Annual Fete

The 2017 fete will be held on 24th June 2017

If you would like to participate in any way please contact the Secretary at on tonyandann.gregans@gmail.com

The 2016 Fete was a huge success, please read all the news from the previous event below.

We were so fortunate that the weather was kind to us for the annual Hospital Fete organized by Bodmin Hospital league of Friends which was held on Saturday, 25th June, 2016 after days of rain.

The fete is a real collaboration of the League of Friends, the wards, the hospital staff and Grosvenor Facilities Management (GFM) , and, of course our sponsors, who so generously make this fete a reality.

It was the debut occasion of the new Bodmin Town Crier (Terry Williams) who introduced our opener Lawrence Reed of BBC Radio Cornwall with panache and style.

Saturday afternoon was a truly enjoyable occasion with a wonderful crowd of supporters, happily spending money and soaking up the atmosphere, whether from the music of St Breward Silver Band, trying a hand at skittles,  enjoying the dog show or just relaxing in the refreshment tent with delicious cream teas.

It was so good to have so many young people at the fete with Avalon Youth Theatre performing extracts from its 2016 production of Oliver, KickBackStreetKidz with their music and performance, a young and very talented singer Benjy and much in evidence throughout the afternoon were Wadebridge Air Cadets helping out with the parking.

Firebird International (Tina Roberts) in the entertainment tent kept us all informed of what was happening and Tina's miniature stallion wowed the crowds near the end.

Also, a special mention for Gerald Worden and his daughter Norma with their donkey cart rides; we understand Gerald and the donkey attended the very first hospital fete nearly fifty years ago and has scarcely missed one since, every year donating the whole of their takings to the League of Friends.

We are so indebted to the stallholders who kindly provide such a wide range of stalls, to all our friends who helped unstintingly and to the public who flocked to this great annual event which raised a gross figure of £6,000 for the wards of the hospital, the League of Friends and the community groups which took part.

THANK YOU.
